View of the stage area of the theater at Sagalassos. This stage area (skene) was only one story high.  Note the still upright doorposts and even a tottering lintel as well as all of the carved stones strewn about.

The current form of the theater was built sometime between A.D. 180–200. 

Because of the remoteness of Sagalassos, it was not heavily plundered for building materials. The theater has not been excavated nor restored—but to me, that just adds to the impressiveness of these well–preserved remains.
