View looking east at the central door into the main church of the Monastery of St. John.

The frescos to the sides of and above the door are from a variety of dates—from the twelfth, seventeenth, and nineteenth centuries.

A metal “simandron” (right of center) is hanging from the wooden cross beam.  A simandron is struck to call the monks to prayer.
