Two larger than life size statues from the Archaic Period (ca. 580 B.C.).  A male statue from this period is called a “kouros”—almost always nude.  A female statue from this period is called a “kore”—almost always clothed.  [use the search window to locate other examples in the archive]

They are said to have been created by Polymedes from Argos.
