This photo was taken in April, near the end of the winter rainy season. This shepherd was tending his sheep in the area of the Hill Country of Manasseh to the north east of Shechem and Tirzah.
Note the vegetation and also the baren chalky hills in the background. The view is looking east southeast. Beyond the chalky hills the terrain slopes downward (east) into the rift valley. So, this photo was taken on the eastern edge of the cultivatable area of the Hill Country of Manasseh.
