View looking northwest. The three-tiered step leads up to the Stoa of the Athenian upon which three columns have been re-erected. Originally there were eight Ionic columns on the stoa.
Behind them the polygonal wall is visible.
If you enlarge the image large Greek capital letters are visible on the vertical surface of the top stair. The complete inscription describes how the Athenians dedicated the stoa and the the booty that they collected after defeating the Persians in 480 B.C. at the Battle of Salamis.
