View from above looking down into the cavea of the theater at Delphi. Below and beyond the orchestra area of the theater the remains of the Temple of Apollo are visible. Beyond the Temple of Apollo the steep slopes descend into the Pleistos Valley—upper right (south) portion of the image.
The theater has 35 rows of seats, a diazoma and could hold about 5,000 spectators. The orchestra area is almost a complete circle. It is paved with polygonal stone slabs and has a diameter of about 60 ft. [18 m.].
