View looking north from the northern slope of the Kastelli (acropolis) of Patmos.
This picture was taken in July. Note the very brown shrubs and barren fields. Without winter rains the island is very barren! This area is only useful for meager grazing during the dry season (summer) of the year.
This is typical of the hilly terrain of Patmos.
