View of the remains of the stacked clay disks that formed columns (hypocausts) that supported the floor of the hot room. These hypocausts were about 4.5 ft. [1.5 m.] high. The heat from the furnace circulated around them and heated the floor that they supported to provide a sauna–like environment.
