View looking west at the Chalcolithic Temple that was found and excavated at En Gedi. This temple was in used about 3000 B.C. and a horde of beautiful copper artifacts from it were found in a cave in Nahal Mishmar 4 mi. [6 km.] to the south.
Only the stone foundation is preserved for the mud brick walls and roof have washed away during the last 5000 years. The man, left of center, with a hat in his hand is standing in the entrance to the temple. Some of the walls of the structure had low benches.
