View looking down and southeast from the top of Masada. The line running diagonally from lower left to upper right is the outline of the 2 mi. [3.2 km.] long siege wall—the wall of circumvallation.
Just right of the center of the image two Roman camps are visible—numbers V and VI. On the right side of the image is the area from which the cable car ascends Masada.
The blue visible at the top of the image is the Dead Sea—which is 1310 ft. [400 m.] lower than the top surface of Masada.
