View looking west at the east side of the Rock Fortress of Masada. On the right (north) side notice the top and the two tiers down from it. This is where the Northern Palace was located. On the left (south) note how the rock scarp drops off into the wadi (valley) below.
Near the center of the image a portion of the "Snake Path" that ascends the slope is visible. In the lower portion of the image gypsum hills are visible.
