View of a reproduction of a Proto–Ionic/Aeolic capital that was found at Ramat Rachel.
Note the central triangle flanked on both sides by “palmettes.”
Ten such capitals were found at Ramat Rachel clearly indicating the presence of an elite structure. Capitals such as this one were place on top of columns and they in turn support beams that supported the roof of a building.
Such capitals have been found at Jerusalem, Megiddo, Dan, Hazor, Samaria and Madeibia in Jordan. For a view of a similar capital Click Here.
