View, looking west, at a typical valley in the Hill Country of Judah. The bottom valley is in the center of the image. Note the steepness of the slopes of the hills that rise out of the valley and the natural limestone terracing on these hills.
On the left (south) south side of the image a crumbling “watchtower” is visible.
In Arabic these valleys that only occasionally have water in them are called Wadis (Wadi singular) and in Hebrew a Nahal.
