View of the western gate of Kh. Qeiyafa looking west northwest. The two northern chambers, of this four-chamber gate, are clearly visible. On the left side of the image are the corresponding southern chambers. Between them is the path that leads into and out of the city.
According to the excavator that gate dates to the time of King David (ca. 1010–970 BCE).
The partially "barren" hill in the upper left is Azekah and to the right (north) of that the Elah Valley flows away (west) towards the Mediterranean.
The western gate is located in "Area B."
