This tomb is located on the east side of the Kidron Valley, on the lower (western) slope of the Mount of Olives - north of the Tomb of the Sons of Hezir.
The tomb is NOT from the days of David's son Absalom, but was probably constructed in the first century B.C. Like Zechariah's Tomb it is of mixed styles. The conical-shaped roof is Syrian style, while the columns on the lower portion are of the Greek Ionic style.
Behind, and to the left of, the Pillar of Absalom is the so-called "Tomb of Jehoshaphat." The grave markers scattered in the green grass are from the "modern" Jewish cemetery on the lower slope of the Mount of Olives.
