This carved piece of stone was discovered in the vicinity of the southwestern corner of the Temple Mount. It evidently was part of the Temple complex, possibly dating to the days of Herod the Great (37–4 B.C.). It probably fell into this general area when the Romans destroyed the Temple in A.D. 70.
