View looking down and south on the remains of one of the guard rooms of the Gate House.
The "room" is just above the black grating of the walkway. The entrance to it and part of the interior are visible. The walls are quite stoutly built.
To the right of the "guardroom" are the remains of a plastered ritual bath from the Second Temple Period—which of course destroyed the older "guard room."
The black grating of the walkway actually covers the floor of the Gate House on which traffic would have passed.
