View looking at the south wall and entrance to the synagogue. One entered via the porch (two raised columns and two column bases) through the doorway. Note the basalt pavement in front of the synagogue.
The yellow crane in the background was brought in and installed by Yehoshua Day. It not only moves up and down and sideways, but also runs on tracks along the outside walls of the synagogue. Initially it was used to assist in the removal and storage of large blocks of basalt stones from the synagogue but now it is being used to put the large basalt block back into place as the synagogue is being reconstructed.
