On the left (east) side of the image is the base of the southern apse of a structure that served as a "basilica" and as a tower that guarded the eastern entrance into the palace of Agrippa II. A similar structure was found on the west side of the palace—on the west side of the modern road. This structure was turned into a bathhouse in the Byzantine Period.
