View of one of the "fissures" in the rock formations in the bottom of Maktesh Ramon. Note that originally the horizontal rock formations were continuous but that molten(?) material has been deposited in the crack in the rock. A detailed look will indicate that the right hand side is slightly higher than the left—thus, there was not only a "crack" that has been filled in, but also some upward/downward shifting of the horizontal layers.
