This is a picture of a large mosaic that is in one of the rooms of a building that bordered the large marketplace in the Lower City of Diocaesarea on the west.
This mosaic shows medallions adorned with birds, fish, and musical instruments. This area, and building, may have served as Diocaesarea's/Zippori's marketplace from the first to the fourth centuries, BC.
The University of South Florida excavated this area.
