View looking southeast at the flat-top hill known as the "Horns of Hattin" (Qarne Hittin)—left of center of the image. At each end there is a rise and thus the name "horns." Note too, the depression between the "horns" of this extinct volcano.
In the vicinity of the Horns of Hattin, on July 4, 1187, Saladin decisively defeated the Crusaders.
This may be the site of "Adamah," one of the cities of Naphtali (Josh 19:36) but others identify it as "the Waters of Merom" where Joshua defeated the Canaanite forces led by the king of Hazor (Josh 11:5, 7).
