View looking south along the outside of the double eastern wall of et-Tell. In the foreground are the covering stones of a drain that leads out of the city.
In the picture, two stone walls are visible—in the upper right. The one on the far right is the inner city wall and to the left of it is the outer city wall. There is a paved street between the outer wall and the modern yellow fence that leads up to the gate of the city—where the large eucalyptus tree is visible.
The wall, street, and road date to the 9th or 8th centuries BC.
