View looking south at the interior of the synagogue at Korazin.  The synagogue is made completely out of carved black basalt stones.  It is basilica in shape with a central nave and three aisles—one on each side of the nave and one in the back.  All of these elements are visible in the image.

The nave leads to the doorway that is visible on the far side of the image.  This is the “Jerusalem wall” towards which prayers were said.  Note that the columns were placed upon square bases called plinths—a feature of Roman architectural design.
