View looking south towards the front of the synagogue at Chorazin. Achia Cohen-Tavor excavated the synagogue floor and he found first-century A.D. pottery and coins there. Because of this, he believes that the well-known 4th-6th century synagogue was built over a first-century one.
The synagogue is now (November 3, 2022) under reconstruction, so it will again be open to tourists. Note especially the new paving stones for the floor.
The synagogue was built sometime during the 4th-6th century.
