View looking at the casemate wall of the fortress at Haluqim. This fort, as many of the forty fortresses, is surrounded by a casemate (double) wall.
The slightly thicker outer wall is on the left; the open interior space and the inner wall are also visible. On the right, the “floor” of the interior of the fort is visible.
Only the three lower courses of this fortress are preserved. Originally the wall, made of more stones and mud brick, stood much higher.
