View looking east from near where the Nahal Zin (Arabic: Wadi Murra) begins—near modern Sede Boqer. This nahal (Arabic: wadi) "flows" from here to the northeast and enters the Rift Valley south of the Dead Sea. In ancient times an important east–west connecting route ran through it connecting Tranjsordan with port cities such as Gaza.
