In Greek, the inscription is from the Greek text of Acts 28:13: ". . . we set sail and arrived at Rhegiuim . . . ."
ὅθεν περιελόωτες κατηντήσαμεν εἰς ᾽Ρἠγιον
The Cathedral is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It was severely damaged by the earthquake in 1908.
