A fresco depicting Bacchus wearing a cluster of grapes and pouring wine for a panther to drink. He is standing next to a conical mountain whose slopes are covered with a vineyard. From the shape of the mountain, many believe that this depicts Vesuvius before its eruption in A.D. 79.
Vesuvius is now about 3,000 ft. [914 m.] high. Prior to its eruption in August A.D. 79 it was about 6,000 ft. [1,830 m.] high—as per this fresco.
