View of the eastern portion of the oval interior of the third century B.C. gate. During the reign of Hadrian, Plancia Magna, ca. A.D. 121, who had spent a considerable portion of her fortune beautifying Perge, placed statues honoring herself, deities, emperors, and the founders of Perge in the niches that are visible in the interior walls of this gate.
Portions of this magnificent set of statuary have been found and are on display in the museum in Antalya. To visit the museum — click here.
