View of a large–than–life statue of Aphrodite (Latin: Venus). Aphrodite is typically the only female deity portrayed in the nude.
Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love, beauty, and fertility (= Roman Venus). The original Aphrodite was done by Praxiteles for the city of Knidos in the fourth century B.C.
The statue was one of many (but less than 20) found near the Caracalla Nymphaeum at Perga.
