A photograph of one of the two columns that has an inscription on it that reads: "I am Aftoha, the son of commander Barshamash (son of the sun), I built these columns and the state for my ladyship Queen Shalmed, the daughter of Manu." (translation from a sign on the site of the Citadel) [I think this is a Syriac Inscription]
The two columns are said to date to the second or third century A.D.
Not too much is known of the history of the citadel (kale in Turkish).
