Detail of the major Mazeus Gate Inscription. Latin inscriptions are carved into the two protruding parts and say:
To the Emperor Caesar Augustus son of a god, the high priest, twelve time consul, twenty time tribune, and Livia, wife of Caesar Augustus, to Marc Agrippa, son of Lucius, three times consul, emperor, six times tribune and daughter of Julio Caesar Augustus. our patrons Mazeus and Mithridates (dedicate this arch)."
In the middle recessed block is a Greek inscription "that speaks of the gate's dedication to their patrons and the demos of the city."
