View of remains located on the top of the citadel of ancient Smyrna, Kadifekale (the "velvet castle") or the ancient Pagus. A Turkish wall that is built upon Hellenistic foundations surrounds this area. At various spots ancient remains, such as these cisterns, are visible on the surface.
