View of the fountain that is located at the north end of the hippodrome. In 1895 the German Kaiser Wilhelm II visited Istanbul for the second time and donated funds to have this fountain built in the name of Turkish–German friendship. The parts of it were fabricated in Germany and it was constructed in 1901. On seven sides of its octagonal base are fountains (three are visible), like on a sadirvan (Ottoman fountain).
It is located in “Meydani”—“the Square of Horses!”
