View looking at the Türbe of Roxelana the wife of Suleiman the Magnificent. The structure contains three cenotaphs: Hürrem Sultan (= Roxelana), Shehzade Mehmet (Suleiman's second son) and Hanim Sultan.
This structure was designed by the famous architect Sinan and was completed in 1558, the year that Roxelana died at the age of 60 (15 April, 1558). Roxelana was a Ukranianian–born concubine that Suleiman took as his legal wife—an unprecedented step! She went by the palace name of Hürrem.
