View looking northeast at a portion of the 27 shops that date to around A.D. 400. Originally, they may have been two–story tall. Inscriptions indicate that Christians occupied 10 of them and Jews 6. The dirt path is where the main street would have been.
The vertical wall is the southern wall of the Synagogue. The two gables peaking over the wall are from the two "arks" in the synagogue.
