View looking up at the raised Clerestory above the central nave of the church. The coffers in the ceiling are gilded with gold paint and the frescos between the windows are scenes from the life of Saint Paul.
The "roundels" contain mosaic portraits of all the popes from Saint Peter through the current pope, Francis. There are roundels left unfinished for 16 more popes.
