A village visited by Jesus and cursed by him for their unbelief (Matt 11:21; Luke 10:13). The site is located 2 mi. [3.2 km.] north of Capernaum and overlooks the Sea of Galilee. It is located in a region characterized by black basalt stone. It has been well excavated and houses, ritual baths, and a synagogue are among its more prominent remains.
