View looking west up the canyon of En Avedat.  The single tree on the left is an "Atlantic Terebinth (Pistacia atlantica) that is about 250 years old.  This tree is native to the Irano–Turanian steppe and is the sole remnant of what was probably a forest here—when more most conditions prevailed.

The plants on the right side of the image are more typical of the dry Negev Highlands.
