View of the stairwell in one of the buildings at Mamshit. Note how there is a central square pier and that the stairs are wedged in between the walls and the central pier. This type of construction was very popular during the Nabatean, Roman, and Byzantine Periods.
It was also used by Herod the Great at Masada.
