View looking south into the columned entrance of the North Porch of the Erechtheion. This porch, and indeed the whole complex, was built in the Ionic style.
The doorway leads into the room that contained the Sanctuary of Athena Polias, a statue of Hermes, a saltwater spring with trident, and the Tomb of Erechtheus.
Note the slender Ionic columns that support the coffered ceiling.
