View looking east down on to the site of the ancient city of Samos—the island capital in ancient times. Today the city is called Pythagório.
On the right side of the image note the castle and church on the hill and just left of center the sailing ships docked in the harbor. This was a huge harbor in ancient times and Samos was famous for shipbuilding and the size and speed of its fleet.
The green mountainous land mass on the left side of the picture is part of the island of Samos.
