View of the spring that was the goal of the whole Iron Age (Israelite) water system at Megiddo.
Evidently in ancient times it was more productive, for in modern times it seems to be more dependent upon the level of the ground water — and in most years the available water is very minimal (not worth digging a tunnel for!!). This spring is located at the southwestern foot of the tell — just outside the city wall. Because of this it was camouflaged
