View looking down at the holy place (apse) at the front of the Church of Saint Demetrius. This is the area located behind (east) of the iconostasis of the church.
On the left side of the image is a small covered area where the elements of the Eucharist are kept and just to the right of center the throne of the bishop is visible. In the apse of the church the semi-circular seating area (synthronos) is also visible.
