View looking south at the large complex of Building IX. It was used as an Officers' Quarters during the rule of Herod ( 37–4BC). During the time of the Great Revolt (AD 66–73) the Zealots built many rooms here and the complex may have been used by a large number of families. Two hoards of silver coins were found in Building IX during excavations.
In the upper right quadrant, the Byzantine Church and the Western Palace are visible.
