View looking southwest at the west wall of the vestibule that is located on the north side of the Western Palace at Masada. Here visitors who had come to visit King Herod would wait prior to being escorted into his presence.
Note the plastered benches on both sides of the long room and especially the plaster that is carved to imitate "hewn stones." Such stones are still visible on the supporting wall of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
