View looking down and west at the excavated area where the foundation of a “podium” or “monument” of Herod's Tomb was found. The southeast corner is visible in the lower left quadrant of the image.
The structure’s foundation is rectangular measuring, approximately(!), 20 x 10 ft. [6 x 3 m.]. The northern slope of the Herodium drops off dramatically on the right side of the image.
Note the finely dressed ashlar masonry as well as the cornice.
