View of a dilapidated building from the Turkish period and a well at Kh. Ruhebe (Arabic name of the site). The three people are gathered around the opening of a 165 ft. [50 m.] deep well that was dug in this wadi bed. It is very common for wells to be dug in wadi beds, for water is concentrated there during the occasional floods, and thus this is one of the most likely places to find subsurface water.
Rehoboth is the name of a well that Isaac dug as he separated himself from the Philistines (Genesis 26:22).
This picture was taken at Passover, during the spring of the year. Note the green shrubs in the area. This is about as green as it gets in this very arid section of the country.
