This mosaic panel is located on the east wall of the south balcony in the Hagia Sophia, in the section known as the "Royal Box," reserved for members of the imperial family.
This mosaic depicts Alexios, the son of the Byzantine Emperor John II Komnenos (r. 1118–1143) and his wife Eirene positioned on the left side of the image.
It is situated on the buttress to the south of the mosaic of John II Komnenos and Irene.
